My name is Mellissa, Mel for short, and I started this business over 20 years ago to fill a need within my community. While a student at Hair Design Institute, I worked at a Black-Owned Nail Salon in Brooklyn and realized that my predominantly Muslim clientele also needed a way to care for their natural hair, even though it was covered while in public. Prior to the dominance of social media, word-of-mouth helped to grow my business weekly and it has kept doing so all these years later. I am cross trained in Nail Technology, Make-up Artistry and Natural Haircare, with certifications from Aveda Salons, Hottips Beauty, York College in addition to my Cosmetology Licensure. I love seeing the amazement of my clients when they realize the glamour that is locked away within them as it is expressed outwardly with a new hairstyle, fresh nail set or a natural makeup application.
